Dara Ikonic, female candidate of PDP for female Mayer of municipality Rogatica

Dara Ikonic was chosen for female director of Health center in Rogatica two years ago, and she overtook 580.000 KM of lost, decrepit shabby building, expired equipment, unpaid salaries and contributions, dissatisfied staff and dissatisfied patients.

Dara Ikonic, actual female director of Health center in Rogatica is a female candidate of PDP for the female Mayer of this municipality. She states that she isn't "party's person" and that she count on the votes not only supporter of PDP, and than other citizens of Rogatica.

Knowles of local conditions state that successful leading of Health centre in this town is her best pre-election campaign.

Although, Tomislav Batinic actual Mayer, member of the SDS party is absolute favorite at this election, Dara Ikonic is the most serious candidate for him in election race.

Can of wall paint instead whisky

-In doctor's offices and director's office walls were dirty and grey because no one for years has been painting. I ordered to my friends immediately who announced that are going to visit me: do not bring me whiskey, instead bottle of drink, bring me can of wall paint, the price is almost same, and the paint is more needed - remembers Dara Ikonic.

Care for old people

Rogatica has got about 13 500 citizens according estimation of statistician, and among them the biggest number is of old people.

-Apartments here are very cheap, and therefore a lot of pensioners moved in, whose children live in bigger towns. Of course, that influence on requests of health protection. We estimate that our some teams of family's medicine have got among registered patients even till 90% chronic sick persons, and citizens elder from 65 years. It isn't easy take care about them - says Dara Ikonic.

There are a lot of unused spaces in building where use to was settled Rogatica's hospital, and which is at disposal of Health center today, female director plan to open center for care of old people with partnership private owners.

Even age structure of employees is very inconvenient in Health centre: the average of age employees is 48 years, and 10 medical personal have got more than 35 years length of service. It will be solve the problem of technical surplus with their leaving in pension, because, according to normative Health center in Rogatica should have 48 employees.

Team of Electro distribution came to turn off the electricity because accumulated debts in Health centre on the second day of her directory's mandate. The account of this health institution is blocked due to the same reason.

Today, Rogatica's Health center according estimation competent people is one from the most successful health institutions in Republic of Srpska.

Walls were painted, the account was realized, losses were covered, and debt for electricity was reprogram mired. New modern equipment supplied, laboratory was completely reconstructed, six teams of family medicine constituted. Specialist medical examinations are available for patients, transport to the hospitals in Foca and Kasindol, and ambulance which works for 24 hours daily. There are not crowd in the waiting rooms. In anonymous survey which recently trade union organization of Health centre did in Rogatica, 60 employed people evaluated their female director with pure 5. Patients satisfied, too.

-Simply, we can not recognize our Health center today. No one wants to ask health services in other towns, or at private owner. We have everything here: either qualitative services or kind staff, says Rogatica's female journalist Selena Simsija.

She acquaints with money

A lot of people are asked today where the secret of the success of this health institution is, but the female director says that the receipt is simple: it should twine sleeves and accept itself the job, because from waiting and wailing there is no use.

-There is no any special secret. It is necessary first thoroughly and honestly analyzes condition, to see where losses and problems are, and then slowly and persistently resolve them. I have never asked help from the others until first we did not do everything is possible, do our level best, exposes Dara Ikonic. She succeed with this business philosophy to obtain allies from local businessman and Municipality to Ministry of Health RS and Fund health insurance RS. Health centre built its boiler room for heating with their help.

-Because of unsolved heating, bills for electricity were enormous, and still 1.800 square meter spaces in Health center were not adequate heated. Today we have surplus thermal energy, so that our boiler room will heat either town pharmacy or employment bureau. When we charge that service we will have enough money for firewood and for salary of fireman, says Dara Ikonic.

This energy female economists, born rogatician one from the oldest families in the town, she even surprised auditors with manager's skills, because this provincial Health center does not lean on as the majority of public health centers at only regular income of the Fund health insurance RS.

-We realize one third of income by ourselves at the market offering to the companies services of the disinfection, systematic examinations of the employed, issuance of sanitary health card. On that way we earn enough money that we can offer to discovered citizens of Rogatica health protection almost free: they pay price equal to the participation, explains Dara Ikonic.

Female director of Rogatica's Health center showed last year that she knows with money, when she from the EUFOR got as a gift professional machine for washing and draying after their leaving.

-We sold those machines and from that money renovate façade and tidy the park with surface of one hectare. However, it is showed that the maintenance of such big park's surface is expensive. We bought three lawn mowers instead to pay mowing and other services, and today that do drivers of Health center while they wait order for driving, says Dara Ikonic.

Patients and employees are satisfied

Dara Ikonic as soon as parked at directory's function gave to employees at knowledge that coming at work it isn't enough, and that every doctor, nurse, or assistant worker must earn his salary. System of video supervision is installed in Health center. Main sister sees at the desktop of her computer in every moment what is happening in all doctor's offices, waiting rooms, and offices. If it is in some waiting rooms crowd, doctors and nurses who in that moment aren't busy immediately are sent in help. The patient mustn't wait, and medical personals can not sit unemployed.

Female director got confidence and respect with this way of leading from business suspicious and vain doctors, but either patient or Trade Union.

-The salaries are regular and reasonable, conditions for work day in day out are better, we prosper in every respect, and of course, we are satisfied because of that. We go regularly on Trade Union's picnics; we know that we can count on help of management when ever the workers need it, we know that can count on understanding - says president of Trade Union organization of Health center Vojo Krunic

Rogatica's medical personals celebrate jubilee this year: 125 years of organized health services in this town. According that, patients will get chance that by anonymous survey choose the best doctor and nurse. The chosen will be rewarded with 1000 KM per person. This idea for such kind of stimulating of employees initiated, of course from female director.
