Work group which is going to make the study of feasibility and validity of construction safe house for violence in family at the region Bijeljina formed on the 24th March in Bijeljina. At the meeting of the president of Parliament Municipality Bijeljina Dragan Djurdjevic and represents of Municipalities Ugljevik, Lopare, Milici, Srebrenica, and Bratunac, and female representatives of Organization of women "Lara" from Bijeljina concluded that it is necessary as soon as start with construction safe house for victims of violence in family.
"It is planned 30.000 KM by budget Municipality Bijeljina for construction safe house in Bijeljina, but in this project we can't stay alone, and we included representatives nine municipalities from our region in order to do elaborates of validity for this project", said president of Parliament Municipality Bijeljina Dragan Djurdjevic.
He added that from some suggested locations for construction safe house is the best that in community center Patkovaca because it is infrastructural well done and it is accommodated near town.
Milan Simeunovic director of the Center for Social work said that the need for safe house exist because the Center even had 80 cases of violence in last year from which in few it had to intervene with isolating from family, in the other words with accommodating in safe house.
Radmila Zigic president of NGO "Lara" Bijeljina pointed out that no one temporally have precise information about number victims of violence.
"It is estimated that 30% families are engaged in violence, and only in the Centre of Public Security Bijeljina registered about 100 cases violence in family last year", said Radmila Zigic and added that about 200 women per year asked legal help in "Lara". She pointed out that the safe house is only one link in chain of help for repression of violence.
OW "Lara" started initiative for opening safe house in Bijeljina in cooperation with Commission for gender equality Parliament Municipality Bijeljina.
